FRIDAY, March 5

Romans 2:25 Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

This verse reminds me of a friend. After only a few days of studying a language, he would begin to complain about the details that made that language difficult. Soon after, he would completely stop studying it. Then, in a bit, he would start the cycle again with another language.

When it comes to following God, keeping up with the laws can sometimes feel overwhelming. As we encounter tougher and tougher challenges, we are tempted to throw our faith out the window. When I began to study Mandarin, I encountered different elements that were difficult, especially pronouncing tones and writing characters. But whenever I wanted to give up, I reminded myself of all the things I loved about the language and culture: the food, the art, my friends!

In our journey of faith, we need to remind ourselves of all the good that God has done for us, which gives us strength to persevere during difficult times.

MOVING FORWARD: Pick up a project that you set aside because of its difficulty. Pray for strength and endurance.
