MONDAY, April 6                  Monday in Holy Week

Isaiah 42:1 Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.

Even years after Jesus called us as his disciples, we still sometimes shake our heads that he anointed us—such a motley crew—to bring good news to the oppressed, bind up the broken-hearted, and proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners.

Some doubt his existence and love, pointing to the sorrow and violence in the world as proof that there is no God. But we feel his love growing so strong within us that we can’t stop giving ourselves away to the flocks he asked us to shepherd.

Dear Jesus, there is so much you want us to do to bring the world closer to your love, so much we can do. Sometimes we can’t stop trembling at the wonder of it all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

MOVING FORWARD: Think about your flock—your family, your friends, your community, or your church. What is one way you can make this evening special for them?
