2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
My former colleague had two massive strokes five years ago. She was once a sharp, playfully sarcastic literature professor who loved her cats and her students. Now, she lies there, her body a tent torn by time and tribulation.
Our bodies, as wonderful and ingeniously designed as they are, will fail eventually. The good news is that our bodies aren’t the end of the story. Instead, they serve their purpose, and when they finally cease to support our lives, we can enjoy an existence unmarred by bodily attrition and yes, even death. Who prepares this for us? A God who stops at nothing to ensure that life not only goes on but also reaches its stunning climax in eternity.
