Genesis 24:27 Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the way to the house of my master’s kin.
Abraham knows what he wants—a family, a place to belong—and finds these things in his relationship to God. Abraham says what he means and means what he says, and God loves this about Abraham, even when Abraham isn’t always as smart or honest as he should be.
Abraham and Sarah fall in love with God and each other, over and over. They teach their family to do the same, and in good time Isaac and Rebekah begin to write their own love story to God. Jacob and Leah and Rachel follow soon after, and the children of Israel are firmly established according to God’s promises.
MOVING FORWARD: How is your story of faith similar to Abraham’s? In what ways is it different?
