Mark 1:34a He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons.
In many ways, addictions, whether to substances or behaviors, resemble demon possession. Addicts’ lives are destroyed from within as they seem to lose their volition to stop their destructive behavior.
Whatever the roots of addiction, we can bring those who suffer to Jesus in prayer. He heals the sick and even casts out demons.
MOVING FORWARD: When you encounter someone suffering from addiction, do you respond with judgment or compassion?
