FRIDAY, October 8

Psalm 143:1 LORD, hear my prayer, and in your faithfulness heed my supplications; answer me in your righteousness.

In 2017, we suffered one of the most devastating events in the history of Puerto Rico: Hurricane Maria stayed over land for more than twelve hours, tearing down everything it encountered along its path. Many were left without electricity, drinking water, food, or shelter.

We went for days and months of complete uncertainty. Many people died. Others were abandoned by their families, and many found themselves without work and had to move away. Whole families ended up separated.

But there were also those who remained strong, believing in the power of God, with faith that everything would return to normal. We know that God helps us at all times, according to our needs. Remember that even in our greatest need, if we call upon God, presenting ourselves as his beloved children, he will take charge. “Lord, hear my prayer, and in your faithfulness heed my supplications; answer me in your righteousness.”

MOVING FORWARD: In times of great tragedy and distress, how do you offer the petitions of your heart to God?
