Romans 4:9b,16 “Faith was reckoned to Abraham as righteousness”…in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants.

The meaning of faith is woven throughout our readings today. Faith—not works—marks our response to God who loves us. Faithful grace and graceful faith are how we are to live in the knowledge of the companionship of Jesus. The One who shows us God’s grace is the One who shares the daily bread of life with us. He is com pão, companioning us through the ups and downs of every day, symbolized in the breaking, taking, and sharing action of the eucharist.

We can be God’s hands and feet in this world because Jesus shows us who God is and what God does. When we follow Jesus we learn to respond to life with generosity, reconciliation, acceptance, compassion, and encouragement. GRACE. We can rest on the promises of Jesus, secure in our place in this life, knowing that a grace-filled faith is what we are bringing to the table.

MOVING FORWARD: What part of the acronym for grace might you be in need of hearing and seeing today?
