SUNDAY, May 9                    6 Easter

John 15:12-13 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

One of the easiest things to do in the world is to love, and yet it is also the hardest.

I admit that I struggle with the concept of loving a person who has caused me pain. But when Jesus commands us to “love our neighbor,” he means all of them, even when we don’t want to or we don’t like it.

I suspect that you, like my sisters and me, have been “volun-told” to do a few things here and there by a parent or someone else. When trying to understand a huge concept like God telling us to love others as God has loved us, just imagine that God is “volun-telling” us to love one another. Just like the probability of hanging out with our friends skyrocketed when my sisters and I did the chores we were “volun-told” to do, you may find your way to Jesus’ path is a little clearer when you choose love.

MOVING FORWARD: What else is God “volun-telling” you? Are you responding?
